Refusals

Section 214(b) is the most common US visa refusal ground. It means the officer was not convinced you would return to your home country. Overcoming it requires building stronger documentary evidence of ties — employment, property, family, and finances.

For most visitor and student refusals, yes — through Administrative Review. You have 28 days from the refusal date. For family and settlement refusals, a full appeal to the First-tier Tribunal is available.

There is no limit, but each refusal makes the next one harder. A second refusal on the same grounds as the first seriously damages your credibility. We recommend Case Rescue before any reapplication.

Not directly — countries do not share visa databases in most cases. But if you are asked about previous refusals on an application form, you must declare them. Concealing a refusal is far worse than declaring it.

Some refusal letters use boilerplate language. In that case, you can request the officer's notes through a Subject Access Request (UK, EU) or Freedom of Information (US). We handle this for Case Rescue clients.
